Min contracts= 1 Year (no option), means they become a free agent automatically.
Max Contract-= 5 years (with option)
The UFA's if they do not sign with anyone, will be deemed free agents and be automatically put into the free agent pool When they sign with a team...if you want to sign him, it will be an inseason add (which means they're signed for the remainder of the season and that's it.
If UFA's sign with teams AFTER the team has already been auctioned, they will be put into the next available auction.
If UFA's sign with teams BEFORE the team has already been auctioned, they will be put into the teams FA Pool and be auctioned off with their respective teams.

I would like to make one suggestion - add 2 NA spots at least should we decide to bid on rookies. That way, we can sign rookies and at least keep them somewhere. It would limit it to 2 though.

Hey Nashville no worries, the minimum contact is 1 year. You can have 1 year plus an option as well, but you do not need to have an option year. UFA players can be added during the season but would you would need to be able to IR a player or would have to buy out a roster player upon winning a bid for a free agent during the season.

At this point Wash, we are going to leave it as drafting a rookie at your own risk. They are going to count as part of your roster and will need to be included against your cap. We will not be adding an N/A spot so you can add a player in place of the rookie at this point. Thank you for the suggestion however, at this point rookies will be part of the main draft and that is the risk you take in selecting one or more for bid.

I don't really believe in having N/A spots for rookies..then you're opening a whole can of worms with having farm teams and such.
I think for simplicity sake, being a first year league, sticking with drafting at your own risk will work. I mean if a rookie makes the NHL and is lighting it up..there's nothing stopping you from buying out a player and making an in-season auction on said player...well..as long as you leave yourself some wiggle room to do so.
